SplashData Brings its Popular SplashID Application to BlackBerry Users
Secure Password Management Application
Helps Users Securely and Easily Manage Their Critical Information

Los Gatos, Calif. – August 16, 2006 – SplashData, the leading provider of mobile productivity software, announced today that its popular secure password management application, SplashID, is now available for BlackBerry® from Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM). Users of SplashID for BlackBerry will be able to organize, manage and access passwords and other critical information securely on their BlackBerry handset as well as their notebook or desktop PC. With over 500,000 users of its versions for Windows, Mac OS and various mobile phone platforms, SplashID is among the leading solutions worldwide for password security and management.

SplashID gives BlackBerry users the ability to create and organize user names, passwords, credit card numbers and PINs in an encrypted database. Designed for both functionality and ease of use, SplashID has a long list of features that provide enhanced security and convenience. Included PC software allows the user's encrypted password database to be synchronized between the BlackBerry handset and a notebook or desktop computer.

"With over five million users, BlackBerry has become much more than a solution for wireless e-mail. People are now also using BlackBerry for secure, wireless access to company intranet and other business applications as well as browsing Web sites that contain content that requires a user name and password," said Morgan Slain, CEO of SplashData. "We have repeatedly been asked for BlackBerry support by individual users of SplashID. We're delighted to now have a solution available for the dynamic and growing BlackBerry market."

Due to SplashID's widespread usage on notebooks and desktops as well as smartphones, SplashID's release for BlackBerry has been anticipated for some time among BlackBerry users. "I've been waiting for this software ever since I got my BlackBerry a year ago," said Daniel Min, a Los Angeles-based entrepreneur. "I've actually been keeping my old phone in my briefcase just so I could continue using SplashID to manage all my passwords."

"Our customers already store a wide variety of business and personal information on their BlackBerry handsets and SplashID provides a convenient tool for storing their various user names and passwords and synchronizing this data with their PC," said Mark Guibert, Vice President, Corporate Marketing, Research In Motion (RIM).

Studies show that more then half of online users surveyed utilize the same user name and password for the Web sites they visit. Frequently people also try to make user names and passwords simple and easy to remember. Security experts agree that both of these behaviors are risky. Passwords should be selected that are "strong," meaning they contain upper and lowercase letters, numbers, punctuation and should also be changed frequently.

SplashID users can automatically generate new strong passwords, protecting their sensitive data from hackers and ID theft. All users need to do is enter their password criteria, and SplashID will generate a new random password. Users also have the option of continuing to create their own passwords. SplashID then secures the user's passwords and data in an encrypted database. Instead of having to remember dozens of passwords and other pieces of sensitive information, a person simply needs to remember one main key to unlock the rest of their passwords, which are stored in a secure vault accessible on both the BlackBerry handset or a Windows notebook or desktop computer.

SplashID for BlackBerry is available for immediate download at www.splashdata.com for $29.95. This price includes both the BlackBerry handset application and the Windows desktop companion software.
