SplashID™ Brings Stronger Password Security to Android
Smartphones, Plus Mac and Windows Desktops
LOS GATOS, CA - SplashData, Inc. today announced major updates to
SplashID for Android smartphones, plus Windows and Mac desktops. The
newest version of SplashID includes many major enhancements that make
it easier to store and access passwords, PINs, account numbers, frequent
flier numbers, and any kind of information that needs to be easily
accessed yet completely secure.
Users of the Android version can now use SplashID’s automatic
password generator which has helped users on other platforms increase
their own personal security standards or stay compliant with their
employers’ password policies. There are well-known standards
for creating and maintaining secure passwords, including specifying
length, type of characters, and frequency of password changes. Unfortunately,
these standards become a hassle for users and non-compliance causes
major security threats to both individuals and companies. With SplashID’s
password generator, users are able to generate passwords based on custom
criteria, and the app’s “strength meter” rates each
password’s strength based on length and complexity.
Many Android users enjoy personalizing everything on their
phones. SplashID Desktop now enables Android users to add
their own custom icons to represent their records rather
than only choosing icons from the application’s included assortment
of stock images.
SplashID also now offers clickable URLs so that websites
and email addresses can be launched from within the app
on the handset, allowing users to not only retrieve a web-login
and password, but to launch the browser and auto-fill the
login information. This feature works with SplashID’s Browser Plug-In, which adds a search box
and Web Login picker the user’s web browser. This feature replicates
the web auto-fill functionality from the SplashID desktop, but as an
installed plug-in for Internet Explorer (Windows) and Safari (Mac).
Many user records need to be easily shared among friends, family or
co-workers from time-to-time. SplashID now makes it easier to email
records to other users directly from the user’s handset.
The Android version of SplashID will sync wirelessly and automatically
with desktop versions for both Mac and Windows, both of which have
been completely revamped in terms of improved security and user interface.
Data security now includes both AES and 256-bit Blowfish encryption
and field masking offers additional protection for sensitive data like
passwords.
The desktop version now also offers Smart Types, which offers a quick
and easy path to access a user’s most popular records. The app
offers three Smart Types, Most Viewed, Recently Modified, and Recently
Viewed, containing the latest 10 accessed records.
The Android version of SplashID is a free upgrade, while the Mac and
Windows upgrade is $9.95 for current users. New SplashID
users can purchase the handset version from the Android Market for
$9.95 and their choice of the optional Mac
or Windows desktop apps for $19.95.
