How does the trial version differ from the regular version?
The trial version and regular version are identical. The software will run for 30-days in trial mode without requiring a registration code. Once the 30-day trial expires, you must purchase a registration code to continue using the product. Once you purchase a registration code, you do not need to re-install the software. Simply enter the registration code to continue using the software and all of your data will remain intact.

How do I install SplashID?

  1. Go to the download page. Click the Download button.
  2. When prompted with the "File Download" dialog box, select "Save this program to disk" and save it in a place you are sure to remember, like your Desktop.
  3. After the file has finished downloading, connect your device.
  4. Double-click the SplashID-BB-Installer.exe file to run the installer. Follow the prompts to complete installation.
  5. Open the BlackBerry Desktop application, and double-click the Application Loader.
  6. Click the Add button and browse to select this file:
    c:\Program Files\SplashID BlackBerry\SplashID.alx
  7. Scroll down through the list of programs and check the box at the bottom for SplashID to be installed.
  8. Click Next and SplashID will be installed on the device.
  9. On your handheld, find the SplashID application and launch. It may be found in the Applications folder.

What is the current version of SplashID and what has changed?
SplashID 4.15 is the current version. For an overview of changes, see the release notes.

How do I update my software?
Simply download and run the latest SplashID Installer found on the download page. It will update your existing software on your desktop and handheld. Your data will remain intact and you won't have to re-enter your registration code.

Can I download SplashID directly via my BlackBerry Browser?
Yes, send your self a download link via SMS or Email on the download page:

I just purchased SplashID and need a registration code. Where do I find it?
When you purchase the software online, an order confirmation email is immediately sent to you (the email you gave in the purchase form) containing your registration code. The registration code will begin with the letters SDXU, SDBB, SWBB or SWXU. Enter it exactly as it appears, and the trial software will be converted into a registered version.

I installed SplashID on a new handheld/desktop and it's asking me for my registration code. Where can I find it?
If you installed SplashID on a new handheld or desktop, you can find your existing registration code on the old device as follows:

Desktop
Launch SplashID Desktop, then select About SplashID Desktop from the Help Menu. Your registration code will be displayed in the dialog. It will start with SDXU, SDBB, SWBB or SWXU.

Handheld
Launch SplashID on the handheld, then select About SplashID from the menu. Your registration code will be displayed in the dialog. It will start with SDXU, SDBB, SWBB or SWXU.

If the above doesn't work, contact us and we'll respond with your registration code.

SplashID won't accept my registration code. Why not?
Make sure you are entering the correct registration code, and not your order number. The registration code should begin with the letters SDXU, SDBB, SWBB or SWXU. You may want to try entering the code without the dashes. Also, make sure there are no spaces before, after, or within the code. Also, make sure you are not confusing your registration code with your password. The registration code only needs to be entered once. The password is a word you define and must be entered each time you launch SplashID.

How much do upgrades cost?
If you purchased SplashID for BlackBerry before 10/21/2007, it costs $9.95 to upgrade, which you can do here:

If you own a different OS license for SplashID (including Palm OS, BlackBerry, Symbian, or the SplashWallet suite) may crossgrade to SplashID for BlackBerry for $9.95.

Product Upgrades
Updates within a version (e.g., 2.0 to 2.1) are free to all registered users. Major upgrades (e.g., 2.x to 3.x) are available at a substantial discount to registered users. If you purchase within 30-days of a major upgrade you will receive the upgrade for free.

Can I use SplashID on multiple handhelds and/or desktops?
You may use SplashID on multiple computers/handhelds. The registration code is not tied to a specific device. The license is per user, so you may install it on all of the computers/handhelds that you use.

How do I transfer my SplashID data from my Palm OS version?

1. Launch SplashID Desktop for Palm OS.
2. Select File > Export > SplashID VID and save the records. Password is optional.
3. Launch SplashID Desktop for BlackBerry.
4. Select File > Import > SplashID vID and select the file you exported in step 2.

How do I set up SplashID sync?
To enable synchronization, double-click the Intellisync or Synchronize icon in the BlackBerry Desktop:

  1. In the Configuration tab of the Synchronize window, click the button that reads "Configure Add-ins."
  2. Check the box that reads "SplashID Intellisync Add-ins" then click OK.
  3. In the Synchronize tab, check the box that reads "Execute Add-in actions."
  4. Click the Synchronize now button to perform a first sync.

How do I make SplashID sync automatically when I connect my BlackBerry?
You can make SplashID sync automatic by clicking the Auto Start button in the Intellisync dialog, and checking the Execute Add-In Actions. Every time you connect your BlackBerry to the computer, it will sync SplashID.

I am getting the following error - "Uncaught exception: java.lang..."
First make sure you have the latest version, using the installation directions on the Download Page.

If you do have the latest, you may have some data corruption.

  1. You should first export a backup of your SplashID desktop data:
    • File > Export > CSV
  2. Then quit and delete this folder: My Documents\SplashData\
  3. Then delete SplashID from the BlackBerry:
    1. Open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, and launch the Application Loader.
    2. Uncheck SplashID from the list, then click Next. SplashID will be removed, and the BlackBerry will restart.
    3. After the BlackBerry has restarted, launch the Application Loader again.
    4. Select SplashID from the list and click the Delete button, then click Next.
  4. Now reinstall SplashID on the BlackBerry, using pretty much the same method:
    1. Launch the BlackBerry Desktop and double-click the Application Loader.
    2. Click the Add button and browse to select this file:
      • c:\Program Files\SplashData\SplashID BlackBerry\SplashID.alx
    3. Scroll down through the list of programs and check the box at the bottom for SplashID to be installed.
    4. Click Next and SplashID will be installed on the device.
    5. On your handheld, find the SplashID application and launch. It may be found in the Applications folder.
  5. Now open the SplashID desktop and sync the blank data with the handheld.
  6. Then import the backed up CSV from the first step and sync again.

I amgetting an Application Loader error: The following modules could not be loaded because their digital signatures were invalid: SplashID.cod
This is most likely the result of a security setting on your BlackBerry Enterprise Server preferences. Please contact your IT department about this issue. It is described in this BlackBerry FAQ:

Easiest solution may be to download it wirelessly via your BlackBerry Browser on the device iteself. Send your self a download link via SMS or Email on the download page:

When I try to install the ALX file, I get a message saying "No additional applications were found." What do i do?

Easiest solution is to download it wirelessly via your BlackBerry Browser on the device iteself. Send your self a download link via SMS or Email on the download page:

There are 3 possible causes of this problem:

1. SplashID is already installed, and you need to delete it. To do this, select SplashID from the list of applications in the Application Loader, then click the Delete button. Then click Next. Now you should be able to add the ALX file on the next time around.

2. You need to update your BlackBerry Desktop Manager software. Version 4.3 or later should resolve this issue:
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/req_4dot3.jsp

3. You need to update the BlackBerry handheld software:

When I try to sync I gen an error - "Error connecting to handheld device. Please reconnect and try again."
This issue was fixed as of version 4.11:

Can I sync SplashID for BlackBerry with a Mac?
No, there is no way to sync the BlackBerry version with the Mac version at this time. We are considering developing a Mac sync version in the future. In the meantime, you can only use them independently, or synchronize with a Windows version of SplashID.

When I try to launch the SplashID desktop, it says "No users found."
This typically means that you have not established a sync partnership between the BlackBerry and the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

Please connect your device to the desktop and run the BlackBerry Desktop Manager to set it up.

Then launch the SplashID desktop and it should use the BlackBerry PIN as the username.

There are no sample record types in the desktop application.
To prevent duplication, we only included the sample types on the handheld application. They will transfer to the SplashID desktop after your first successful sync with SplashID on the BlackBerry.

Whenever I click on a record in the list in SplashID Desktop, I hear an annoying beep.
It turns out that this is a bug in Vista, and not in SplashID. Please see this Microsoft Knowledge Base article on the issue and ways to resolve it.

Alternatively, click the Volume icon in the System Tray and select Mixer. Then click the Mute button for SplashID.

I am having trouble synchronizing - troubleshooting tips.

There are 4 main reasons why sync would fail in SplashID for BlackBerry:

  1. You need to run the application on the handheld once, then synchronize again.

  2. You have not properly enabled synchronization with SplashID. To do this, double-click the Intellisync or Synchronize icon in the BlackBerry Desktop:

  3. You need to set the password the same on the handheld as it is on the desktop. The passwords must be identical in order to sync.

  4. The incorrect BlackBerry PIN is selected in the user menu of the SplashID desktop. Make sure the PIN matches that which is displayed at the bottom of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager window when the device is connected.
